A multi disciplinary consultancy in the South West operating in Aerospace (civil and military), Air Traffic Management, Civil Nuclear and Rail are looking for a Principal Safety Engineer / Safety Manager with considerable proven experience in one (or more) of these sectors.
Reporting to Director level this roles requires the following skills:
Overall responsibility for the safety aspects of Independant Safety Audits.
Responsibility for the technical safety aspects of engineering development and consultancy projects.
Implement appropriate training plans for the Safety Engineering teams.
Duties and responsibilities.
Ensure projects produce and maintain a safety plan, to including an appropriate safety lifecycle model.
Definiton of a project teams organisational structure (from a Safety perspective).
Ensure projects utilise technologies appropriate to the required applications.
Ensure any project safety concerns are investigated correctly and required actions are taken.
Ensure relevant safety regulations standards and legislations are followed.
Set the technical and safety strategy for large and complex bid proposals as well as live projects.
Experience.
Candidates should have considerable industry experience, in Aerospace, Air Traffic, Rail OR Nuclear.
Experience of disciplines including systems, software and hardware for large scale complex engineering projects.
Experience in Safety Assessment and Auditing.
Key Skills.
Proven knowledge of one or more regulatory regimes.
Knowledge of national / international standards appropriate to a particular industry / regime.
Soild and proven understanding of the underlying principles of Safety Engineering or Safety Management in complex high-hazard environments.
Knowledge of functional safety assurance, including HAZID, HAZOP, ALARP, FTA, FMEA, QRA etc.
